Colorau or colorific, is a type of starch product, whose name is given to reddish-colored condiments or spices of vegetable origin, and which are used to modify the color, texture and flavor of other foods.
In Brazil, corn and dried annatto seeds are mixed with a little oil, which after grinding, originates what we call Colorau, which is widely used in Brazilian cuisine. The nomenclature of paprika or colorific should not be confused with paprika, as this consists of grinding the dried and ground red bell pepper.
