Moringa is a type of shrub and tree with multiple uses: its leaves, roots and unripe pods are eaten as a vegetable. All parts of the moringa tree – cuttings, pods, leaves, nuts, seeds, tubers, roots and flowers – are edible. The leaves are used fresh or dried and ground into powder. Moringa seed oil is sweet, not sticky, dry or rancid, while the cake made from the seeds is used to purify drinking water.
Moringa seeds can also be eaten green, roasted, powdered or infused for tea or used to make curry.
