Plant biomass is an important source of energy and its use contributes to reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and eliminating the continuous waste of by-products from agro-industries. It is of particular importance in developed countries such as Sweden and the United States.
With current demands for renewable energy, the development of new ways to use plant biomass is growing. Increasingly important, however, are technologies that convert heterogeneous biomass into pellets or densification. Pelletizing improves the fuel properties of biomass and significantly reduces the cost of packaging, transport and storage.
